From Derek and Chris: 3 incredible days at Pondoro with Shaun (ranger) and Eric (tracker) guiding us through some awesome game-viewing. Here are some highlights:
We found 2 elephant bulls at Jiga-jiga road on the 3rd of April. They were busy feeding on a huge rock plate just after some good rains and the whole setting provided an excellent platform for some interesting photos.
I took this image at the elephant carcass. The elephant apparently died after a fight with another bull. The York lion pride was at the carcass for about a week.
On the afternoon safari on the 8th of July we found a breeding herd of elephants walking slowly towards Xibejuane dam. I decided to go to the dam and wait there for the herd to arrive so that we could make sure that we were in a perfect position for taking photos. The dam was already dry, but the mud was still wet and we spent a wonderful hour at the dam watching the elephants bathing in the mud.
This elephant bull must have died after a fight with another elephant bull. This pride of lions were seen feeding on the carcass for the next week. This is some of the highlights.
