A pack of 8 wild dogs were seen on the 17th of July. They split into 2 smaller groups after this and we had another 3 sightings of this rare and endangered predator but only 4 dogs at each sighting. The amount of area that they cover during their hunts never stops to amaze me. During one game drive they covered approximately 5 km in 10 minutes. They remain one of my favourate animals and there coloursĀ just jumps to life by the current late winter canvas.
We found 2 elephant bulls at Jiga-jiga road on the 3rd of April. They were busy feeding on a huge rock plate just after some good rains and the whole setting provided an excellent platform for some interesting photos.
A collection of photos taken during the latter part of March. The baby giraffe was very special and we saw it just as it was taking its 1st steps about 30 min after being born.
On the 18th of December guests visiting Pondoro had the luck to witness a huge pride of 19 lions catching and killing a wildebeest during the night safari. Shaun, one of the rangers, watched the whole drama unfold as it took them more than an hour to stalk and catch their meal. The noise and sound of the fighting and feeding were incredible.
We found the male leopard again on the afternoon safari at Jiga-Jiga road. He was still at the kill and we were lucky enough to find him lying on a termite mound.
